5 Days Kilimanjaro Climb via the Marangu Route 2026, 2027 & 2028
Overview
The 5 Days Marangu Route is one of the most popular ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m). Often referred to as the “Coca-Cola Route,” it is the only route on the mountain that offers comfortable mountain hut accommodation throughout the trek instead of camping. The trail follows well-established paths through lush rainforest, alpine moorland, and volcanic landscapes before reaching the summit at Uhuru Peak, the Roof of Africa.
This itinerary is designed for climbers with limited time and good physical fitness. It follows a direct ascent without an additional acclimatization day, making it more challenging than the 6-day Marangu itinerary.
Tour Highlights
- Summit Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Africa’s highest point.
- Stay in comfortable mountain huts throughout the trek.
- Trek through five unique ecological zones.
- Experience spectacular sunrise from the Roof of Africa.
- Well-maintained trail suitable for first-time mountain climbers.
- Professional mountain guides, porters, and cook.
- Excellent option for climbers seeking a shorter itinerary.

Best Time to Climb
The Marangu Route can be climbed year-round, but the best weather conditions are generally during:
- January – March
- June – October
These periods typically offer clearer skies, lower rainfall, and the best summit conditions.
Note: While the 5-day Marangu Route is ideal for experienced and physically fit climbers with limited time, many operators recommend the 6-day Marangu Route because the additional acclimatization day at Horombo Hut significantly improves comfort and increases summit success rates.
